Noise Reducing Wheels
In the working environment noise pollution caused by unwanted resonance can cause long term health and safety issues, effect productivity, and reduce employee satisfaction. Excessive noise in the workplace can affect employee happiness and stress levels so choosing the right tread for your wheels is important to maintain a harmonious working environment. In some conditions, such as the hospitality and leisure industry, hospitals, theatres, television, radio and sound recording studios noise can interfere with the day to day running of a business and should be a consideration when selecting wheels for your particular environment.
At TEP Technica we offer a wide array of wheels to suit a variety of industrial and commercial applications. Our technical advisors are on hand to offer advice on product identification. To help get you started use our guide to identify the most suitable tread for your application.

Castors & Wheels For Noise Reduction
Hard castors or wheels have many advantages, but cannot absorb noise whilst in operation, and this is amplified on hard floors. Softer treads have a lower decibel output and are more suited to conditions where noise pollution needs to be kept to a minimum. Hard floors often require good noise reduction and vibration damping, and a general rule, you should use a softer tread with a harder flooring surface (like hardwood or ceramic tiles).
If the tread is too soft it can mark a hardwood or ceramic floor which can be difficult to clean, so matching the appropriate tread to the application is important if you want to preserve your floor and enjoy smooth motion and handling from your wheel.
PevodynSOFT
PEVODYN®-Soft 78° Shore A is a new high-quality polyurethane elastomer that we have developed with high dynamic load capacity and significantly reduced starting and rolling resistance. The excellent mechanical properties of the material include high cutting, tearing and abrasion resistance. Thanks to its good noise reduction and vibration damping, PEVODYN®-Soft is particularly suitable for use on surfaces where care is needed. And with its hydrolysis resistance, the material is ideally suited for use in tropicalclimates.
Vulkollan Soft
VULKOLLAN® is a highly elastic polyurethane elastomer based on Desmodur® 15. Like all VULKOLLAN® versions, the material has excellent mechanical properties including good dynamic load capacity, good abrasion resistance and tear growth resistance, high impact resilience and low compression set. With a Shore hardness of 85° Shore A, VULKOSOFT® combines high load capacity with good noise reduction and vibration damping and istherefore particularly suitable for use on surfaces where care is needed, for example on tiled floors.
Vulkollan Soft Wet Grip
TRACTOSOFT® is a VULKOLLAN® composite material developed by us with the same properties as VULKOLLAN®. Special TPU granules incorporated into the tread ensure increased wheel grip, thus improving starting properties, preventing slip and improving braking effects. Thanks to the lower Shore hardness of 85° Shore A, TRACTOSOFT® is particularly suited for use in transportation on wet and soiled surfaces where noise reduction and protection of the products being transported are also important factors.
