HIGH CAPACITY NYLON WHEELS

Nylon is a high quality thermoplastic polyamide and has natural characteristics which make it a popular tread material for industrial wheels, it has been used for decades in industrial applications and specifically materials handling. Nylon wheels are very strong and have high load capacities. This tread material is popular because it is inexpensive, impact, tear and wear resistant.

Nylon is used for industrial castors, pallet rollers, heavy duty castors, flanged and grooved wheels and conveyor rollers.

KEY PROPERTIES OF NYLON WHEELS

White nylon castor wheels are made with a solid nylon material and are the most common nylon wheel. Black nylon caster wheels are reinforced with glass fibre to increase capacity and reduce friction when rolling.

Nylon has a high melting point so it can operate at +80°C to +90°C without tread deformation. It can also operate at low temperatures of -30°C and -40°C. The key properties of nylon include:

High Load-Bearing Capacity:

Nylon wheels have excellent load-bearing capacity, allowing them to support heavy loads without deforming or losing their shape.

Durability and Longevity:

Nylon is a resilient material that resists wear, abrasion, and impact. Nylon wheels can withstand the rigors of constant use in demanding environments, leading to a longer lifespan.

Low Coefficient of Friction:

Nylon wheels have a low coefficient of friction, which contributes to their smooth rolling and reduces the effort required to move heavy loads.

Impact Absorption:

Nylon has good shock-absorbing properties, which helps reduce the impact on both the wheels and the equipment when encountering bumps or obstacles.

Lightweight:

Nylon wheels are relatively lightweight compared to some other materials, making them suitable for applications where weight reduction is beneficial.

Non-Marking:

Nylon wheels are non-marking, meaning they won't leave marks or streaks on floors, making them suitable for use in indoor environments.

Hygienic:

Nylon is odourless and hygienic making it ideal for food processing plants and cold stores.

Temperature Resistance:

Nylon has a high melting point so it can operate at +80°C to +90°C without tread deformation. It can also operate at low temperatures of -30°C and -40°C.

Chemical Resistance:

Nylon wheels are resistant to many chemicals, oils, solvents, and greases. This makes them suitable for applications where exposure to chemicals is common.

Corrosion Resistance:

Nylon is resistant to corrosion and rust, making it suitable for use in environments with high humidity or exposure to moisture.

APPLICATIONS FOR NYLON WHEELS

Nylon wheels are commonly used in various industrial applications due to their durability, strength, and versatility. Here are some common applications for nylon wheels:

  • Roller coasters
  • Pallet trucks
  • Lift Trucks
  • Stacker cranes
  • Shuttle systems
  • Conveyor Systems
  • Material Handling
  • Guide rollers
  • Trolleys
  • Hydraulic lift tables
  • Industrial turntables
  • Automatic guided vehicles
  • Electric monorail systems
  • Lifting equipment
  • Push skid systems
  • Aerial lift and access platforms
  • Retrieval systems
  • Automated storage & retrieval systems (ASRS)
